Victoria Falls

Spectacular

The Victoria Falls are among the most spectacular in the world and one of the seven natural wonders of the planet. They are situated on the Zambia-Zimbabwe border with the Zambezi River stretching for almost 2 km wide and plunging steeply down 90-107 metres creating an iridescent water mist and a deafening roar.

The falls are classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. When the river is at its peak about 3000 tons of water per second rush over the falls and crash down about 100 metres. Traditionally the falls are called Mosi-oa-Tunya, meaning "smoke that thunders" and were baptized Victoria Fall in honor of the queen.

The falls are only a few kilometres from the nearest town, yet they are completely encircled by a thick rain forest making the site relatively well protected and isolated.

Many activities are possible in the area, such as walking safaris, mountain biking, bungee jumping and many more.
