A thousand and one reasons to explore Tasmania!
Less explored than other Australian states, wild and mysterious, it is possible and practical to explore Tasmania by motorhome from Hobart. Tasmania is Australia's largest island and is a wild and rich, natural site.
The prinicpal island of Tasmania is a mix of world heritage wilderness, compact cities, historical sites and purely, beautiful scenery. The west coast is the most wild and unspoilt area and is made up of 3 national parks: Southwest National Park, Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park and Cradle Mountain-Lahe Saint Clair National Park. There are 17 national parks on the island and many beautiful beaches (Wineglass Bay in Freycinet National Park). Hiking is an excellent way to explore the island and there are hikes and walks for everyone of all different levels. Other activities include rafting and kayaking and historical tours and routes.
Many other smaller islands surround Tasmania, but some stand out more than others. Visit Bruny Island, lined with idyllic beaches and crossed with many wonderful hiking and walking trails. King and Flinders Islands are perfect for unwinding and enjoying the beautiful scenery of deserted beaches enclosed by pink, granite cliffs and sand dunes. There are also many interesting animals to see and learn about. You can also enjoy eating local specialities including delicious seafood.
