Vikos-Aoos National Park

As if you're the only ones in the world

The Vikos-Aoos National Park was created in 1959 and extends over 12 000 hectares. It is located in the northwest of the country in the de'Epire mountainous region and is a very wild region with beautiful walks.

The landscapes and biodiversity of the park are typical of high mountain areas with some areas of Mediterranean scrub, wetlands and alpine meadows. Mount Tymfi is impressive with a height of 2500 metres, as are Aoos and Vikos gorges (the deepest in Europe). The park is home to wild goats, deer, otters, a wide variety of birds of prey, brown bears and wolves. There are many hiking trails, but you must be well prepared and equipped as they tend to be quite difficult. You will pass through charming villages with picturesque stone houses and slate roofs.
