Northumberland National Park

In the footsteps of the Roman Empire

The northernmost park of England holds wonderful surprises for you during your motorhome trip with family or friends. It was created in 1956 and is over 1000 square km of wild hills, forests and crystal clear waters that will transport you to Roman times and immerse you in a unique nature.

Northumberland National Park borders with Scotland and is a unique Roman site with the past still visible today. In the south, the park is bordered by the famous Hadrian's Wall, built by the Romans over 6 years, almost 2000 years ago. This exceptional site is today UNESCO World Heritage Site. All around the area the adventure continues. You can visit the ruins of Roman forts and temples, historic jewels, more or less well preserved.

In the northern part of the park don't miss the green Cheviot Hills, formed thousands of years ago by ancient volcanic activity. This unique site offers numerous activities including hiking trails, cycling, canoeing and climbing. It's also possible to fish and see animals such as birds and red squirrels, which are rare in Britain.

Also not to be missed is the Kielder Water Forest Park, home to the largest artificial lake in Northern Europe and ideal for hiking and many water sports. Not far, Alnwick Castle awaits. It is a medieval fortress where many scenes from Harry Potter were filmed.
