The Great Lakes

On the road to the Great Lakes

This area is close to the Canadian border and houses dense forests, freshwater reserves, cosmopolitan cities and the lovely countryside. CampingCar-Online/Ramble Campervans suggests a list of places and parks to visit along this route in your motorhome.

Duluth and the Lake Country

Duluth's largest port connects the Great Lakes region with the Atlantic Ocean. From Duluth you can take the North Shore Drive and enjoy the stunning views of Lake Superior. Via the Grand Portage National Monument you can access the Isle Royale National Park in the summer or drive on to Canadian lands.

Isle Royale National Park

The island is now protected from human interference and remains a true virgin wilderness. Fish, elk, red foxes, wolves, beavers, minks and over 200 bird species coexist in a dense forest environment with abundant greenery.

Voyageurs National Park

This splendid park on the Canadian border retains its charm and wild beauty of lakes and forests.
