Exploring Alaska

Take a Trip into the Wild!

Alaska, known as the last frontier, is popular for its breathtaking scenery and salmon fishing. CampingCar-Online/Ramble Campervans suggests an itinerary to explore Alaska starting from Anchorage.

Collect your motorhome in Anchorage and head northeast along the Glenn Highway. You will pass through Eagle River and Chugiak and continue on to Palmer. Enjoy the impressive views of the Chugach and Talkeetna mountains. You will also cross the Matanuska-Susutna Valley and Denali National Park. If you have time take a little detour into the Talkeetna community. Solitude, tranquility and unspoilt nature awaits you. Before the Denali National Park, head to Fairbanks where you can enjoy a wide view of the Tundra fauna and flora. Mount McKinley can be seen if the weather is clear.

Continuing north you will be accompanied by the incredible forest and mountain scenery. Pass through the communities of Healy, Nenana and Ester. After this you will leave behind Fairbanks Glennallen and take the Richardson Highway. If you have time, stop to admire the incredible views of the Wrangell Mountains. Drive to the Worthington Glacier and through Keystone Canyon with its waterfalls. Valdez is a must-see on your Alaskan itinerary - the melting glaciers and towering Chugach Mountains make it a picturesque place. Then head off to the Kenai Fjords National Park with its pristine, glacial views that are truly breathtaking.
