Mountains for children and adults
Jotunheimen National Park was established in 1980 and is home to the highest peaks in Norway with Galdhøpiggen rising to almost 2500 metres. Waterfalls, rivers, lush valleys and lakes enrich the park with glaciers dominating the landscape.
Jotunheimen National Park is only a few hours drive from Osla. There are close to 20 camping sites in the region and you can explore the park by foot, skis, bike or horse. Other activities inlcude cross country skiing, downhill skiing, rafting, canyoning and caving. The park has a unique flora and fauna. You can see the glacial buttercup, a flower that can grow at altitudes of more than 2000 metres. Animals in the park inlcude elk, deer, foxes, mink, reindeer, wolvers and lynx.
