Water sports

Disocver the other side of New Zealand

Explore and discover the spectacular scenery that the two New Zealand islands have to offer through outdoor activities such as watersports. Indeed, New Zealand offers many water activities. In your motorhome on your road trip take the opportunity to arrange a kayak trip or sailing boat on the clear water lakes. Try your hand at fishing, a popular activity in New Zealand, and land yourself a big fish!

New Zealand abounds with breathtaking scenery and landscapes from mountains, to ocean and lakes. We recommend exploring the coast and the lakes of New Zealand by kayak. If you want to explore the South Island, we suggest you go to Marlborough Sounds, famous for its coastline and wildlife. If you want to explore the North Island, go kayaking in the Bay of Islands and on Lake Taupo where you can admire Maori carvings on the rocks. The volcanic lakes of Rotorua are also worth a visit.

Travelling along the coast will allow to stop for a sailing boat or cruise ship excursion while relaxing and admiring the stunning views of glaciers, fjords and mountains.

Another popular activity in New Zealand is fishing. The season for big game fishing is from December to June. In the north of the country we suggest you go to Russell and Tutuka to catch some kingfish and tarakihis. Blue cod, marlin and tuna await you in the south of New Zealand. Head to the Bay of Plenty, Tauranga in your motorhome. You'll have no trouble finding campsites throughout your road trip and you can even do a bit of 'wild' camping (camping outside of designated camping areas).

Kite or windsurfing enthusiasts will really appreciate New Zealand and will be able to get closer to nature. On the North Island the best spots are in the Bay of Islands, Orewa Beach and Piha Beach near Auckland, Wellington and Lake Taupo.

On the South Island you are guaranteed to have the perfect wind and wave conditions for kite and windsurfing in Kaikoura, Whites Bay and Pegasus Bay.
