Monument Valley

Monument Valley is on the border of Arizona and Utah and forms part of the Navajo territory, the Navajos being a Native Indian nation. Monument Valley is unrivaled for its unique landscape of unusual sandstone formations.

Sedona

Arches National Park

This park has a desert landscape tinged with green, red and ochre colours where thousands of natural stone arches have been carved over several million years. A concentrated section of the park includes some of the more well known arches, such as Devil's Garden and Landscape Arch, the largest in the world.

Grand Canyon National Park

This is one of the most famous and most visited sites in the USA and extends over a hundred kilometers. In addition to offering spectacular scenery, the site is also an excellent area for geological research due to its multicoloured stone layers corresponding to earlier eras.

Bryce Canyon National Park

This is one of the most beautiful national parks in the USA. A bowl-shaped canyon unfolds, filled with giant, natural amphitheatres tinged with pink, orange, red and white coloured rocks soaring into the sky.

Canyonlands National Park

This park is divided into three areas: Island in the Sky, the Needles and The Maze. Their landscapes are similar but have distinguishing features that include grass plateaus, arches and canyons.

Capitol Reef National Park

A wild landscape with vegetation similar to an oasis in the desert. It is less crowded than the parks close to it and more tanquil for hikers.

Mesa Verde National Park

The park is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and protects cliff dwellings that were the homes of the Ancestral Pueblo people, an ancient civilization.

Zion National Park

The Virgin River flows through this park in a canyon with steep cliffs. For about 10 km its banks are populated with a rich vegetation and it is this 'oasis' section of the park that is most visited.

Great Sand Dunes National Park
