Thrill-Seeking in California

Los Angeles: Opening of "The Walking Dead" Attraction

It's official! Universal Studios Hollywood just opened it's much awaited attraction, inspired by "The Walking Dead". What better time to plan an exciting Southern California road-trip by motorhome or campervan? To add a little spice to your trip, we've scoped out the best spots inspired by horror films and TV series, must-see stops, and the latest horrifying attractions to experience a truly out of this world vacation.

If you are inspired by chasing thrills, can stomach dark scenes, love of the series "The Walking Dead", and enjoy traveling by motorhome, this article was made for you.

In fact, as mentioned above, Universal Studios has just opened the doors to their newest "Walking Dead" attraction, which fills the gap for fans waiting for the release of season 7. Lucky for you, we offer rental RV's departing from Los Angeles to start out a hair-raising road-trip. Take your turn at playing Rick Grimes and face-off against zombies (or escape the evil "walkers"), in a terrifying labrynth. Admit it, you're already excited and there's no point in resisting!

After this intense experience, we invite you to make a visit to the Alfred Rosenheim Mansion. This unmissable manor served as the setting for the first season of "American Horror Story" as The Murder House, but also in the series "Buffy", "The X-Files", and "The Fourth Dimension". You could also take a tour of the Cecil Hotel, or Stay on Main, the famous 1930's style Los Angeles hotel which inspired Hotel Cortez from season 5 of American Horror Story (the one with Lady Gaga!), due to the many suicides and murders which have taken place there.

Finally, for the truly adventurous, you can add a new and extraodinary stop to your Los Angeles Tour, the Blackout Haunted House. Sensitive souls, steer clear!

Following this rush of adrenaline, take a break and spend your time enjoying the beautiful landscape of Southern California by taking your motorhome through the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, which harbors many similarities to the famous Death Valley. In the heart of this State Park, make sure to pass by "Font's Point," a view point which offers a breathtaking panoramic view. Don't forget to take a walk down the bed of slot canyon as well. Take caution, this park is not recommended during the summer months (beginning of June to end of September), and particularly, regardless of the season, to venture out without a sufficient supply of water. Anza Borrego Desert offers up an amazing view of the starts, and we highly recommend spending a night under the beautiful desert sky!

Now that you have fully taken in the view, hop back in your motorhome or campervan and head to San Diego! Take pleasure in discovering the second largest city on California, a sun-drenched, seaside urban paradise, heavily influenced by Mexican culture. To stick to the theme, we're obliged to inform you of on of the most terrifying haunted mansions in the world, the McKamey Manor. It includes an extreme 7 hour tour filled with shivers, anxiety, and torture (most visiters can only last on average 2 - 3 hours, no one has made it throught the entire 7 hours in its 14 years of existence). Caution: if you have health concerns (cardiac, respiratory, or others), are under 21, or are pregnant, this experience is definitely not for you. If you happen to be in the correct shape and state of mind to visit this mansion, be sure to plan far ahead, as there are already 24,000 names on the wait list!

If you would like to plan your own "thrill-seeker" trip, we have motorhomes, campervans, luxury coaches, and vans available to rent from Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, or Las Vegas.
